Programs
It is the philosopy of Coaching staff and Parents of the Quinte Dolphins that through swimming, our children will have the opportunity to have fun, while developing physical, emotional and social skills. As they learn the value of competition and teamwork, they will become athletes, all the while building self-esteem in an environment that stresses commitment and consistency.
It is the goal of the Quinte Dolphins to provide each swimmer with a program that supports their growth and development, in an atmosphere that remains fun and emphasizes participation. The Dolphins recognize the value of each individual, and that not all swimmers will attain, nor seek to attain the same level of proficiency. To that end we have tried to develop programs that provide an opportunity for each swimmer to achieve their own level of excellence.

Blue (Pre Competitive)
This program is intended to enhance current swimming skills by promoting stroke development. Young swimmers will be challenged at different skill levels. The goal of this program will be to develop the swimmers' abilities so that multiple lengths of the pool can be swum using the proper technique for the front crawl, back stroke and breast stroke. Proper technique for starts and turns and butterfly will be added as the childs skill and stamina increases.
White(Competitive)
This year we have split our Junior (12 and under) and Senior (13 and over) swimmers. Both our Junior and Senior White programs build on the skills and stamina of the swimmer and are also our first competitive programs. Swimmers will be encourage to enter swim meets, but the practice schedule still allows the swimmers to explore other interests. The focus will be to further develop the swimmer's skills and increase their stamina.
Red(Competitive)
This is the next step in the swimmer's development. At the Junior. level we introduce a Saturday morning practice allowing for the every other day progression of practices, while at the Senior level a third afternoon practice is added also continuing the every other day practice schedule. At this level it is expected that Swimmers are beginning to make swimming ther extra curricular focus and are striving to achieve qualification times for standards based meets, such as the one held at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
Black(Competitive)
Our Black program this year is designed for our Senior swimmers and adds a morning practice on Saturday. Our Black offers our first back to back training days and adds a more rigorous degree of training and committment. This level is designed for swimmers trying to achieve Regional standards as well as preparing them for the challenges of the next level. At the moment there is not an equivelant level for our Junior swimmers but if there is enough interest we do have pool time to accomodate our Juniors.
Elite (Competitive)
This program is for swimmers who have successfuly completed the Black program and are swimming at or near Provincial standards. It requires an even higher level of commitment both in and out of the water. A training program for our most motivated and committed swimmers; this 10 month program has 6 practices a week and a total of 10 hours. At this level additional pool time may be offered and the season extended if the swimmer's progress and comittment warrant. Provincial and National meets routinely run into July and August.
